Range Cookers Buyers Guide

Range Cookers are supplied in a variety of sizes, ranging from widths of approximately 80cm to 130cm. It is important to either plan this when you buy a new kitchen or to make sure that it perfectly fits the space in your existing kitchen.

Styles

Range Cookers can be supplied in a range of styles that fit the style of your kitchen. Some cookers will be supplied with a more traditional look and feel while others can match the style of the most contemporary modern kitchen. Range cookers can be supplied in a large range of colours, so colour co-ordinating your kitchen is no problem. Also look out for using doors with window or solid doors as additional options.

Fuel Types

Range cookers are supplied with electric, gas or both fuels as options.

Electric Range Cookers

Electric Range cookers are generally a little simpler and easier to maintain. The technology has improved so much that the instant heat of the cooker supplied by gas (and a long considered dis-advantage of electric cookers) is barely noticeable. Please note that the power supply required to support and electric range cooker can be larger, often up to 30amp or more.

Gas Range Cookers

A gas range cooker benefits from instant heat from the hobs (which can be an issue or electric range cookers) though the oven compartment can be a little slower to heat. Gas ovens require longer to heat, though the counter benefit can be a better cooking environment for certain dishes that tend to dry out. For homes and apartment buildings that can accommodate gas cookers, this would be my preference.

Dual Fuel Range Cookers

If you are fortunate enough to have a robust enough electricity and gas supply then think about opting for a duel fuel cooker. The real advantage of this is being able to use the best of both worlds, in other words take the fast heat up times of gas without the drawbacks and vice versa for the electric. This is often the most satisfying choice for more sophisticated users, as they are able to tailor how they use their cooker to their own needs.

How much should I pay for a Range Cooker?

It is possible to pay less than £200 for a basic range cooker, but this figure can go up drastically to above £8000 for an elite model. When looking to buy a cooker, you should ask yourself the following questions.

What is my budget?

What features do I really need?

What features would I like if it came at the right price?

Can I buy it cheaper online?

Can I find appropriate discount codes/offers to help me save more money?
